Tips & Tricks for Lost Rift

Build your base in the Comms Tower. You can shut the door to avoid raiders, there’s free storage, and you can use a Pioneer Key to open the back room for even more space.

You can build walls out of pillars for more protection from raiders. It’s time-consuming and tedious, but by using small pillars you can make a very fortified wall.

Raiders that attack will target you, not your base. If you’re being attacked and don’t want holes in your walls, fight them away from your base.

Don’t bring a lit fire inside a thatch base. Bad things can happen.

Invest in the comfort of your base for a bonus stamina boost when you sleep. You can take this buff into raids and get about 20 minutes of extra stamina.

All animals, except for the bug currently, can drop their trophy that can be hung in your base for extra comfort. You want two of each trophy for the maximum bonus.

Silence is golden. Most PVPers chase the sound of gunfire. Use a bow or crossbow to reduce the noise you make.

You don’t need to take every fight. Choose your fights selectively and only engage if you have the upper hand.

Use your environment while fighting AI. Some enemies can’t path properly to you when you’re on a rock or building, so use that to your advantage.

To avoid taking damage from Hyenas, just sidestep right when they lunge at you.

Invest in metal tools for faster farming. Don’t harvest fiber and sticks by hand. Axe a tree for way more fiber and convert your wood into sticks.

Get wax from killing the tree bugs that live in nests built into trees. They can be one-shot from the underside while flying.

To get iron, you can smelt more than just ore. Smelt down metal scrap, broken weapons, and more. Keep in mind that the returns on some items may not be worth it.

Loot everything. Almost every item has a use for trading or crafting.

To enter an expedition, you don’t have to interact with the boat. Open your map and press Q to enter the expedition menu.

For a free Research Annex key, check on top of one of the server racks in the back left of the Comms Tower.

Look at the traders for early-game trades. For example, the materials for the Combat Crossbow are fairly easy to come by.
